Lilly's birthday!

Here is a picture of Lilliana helping me make the cake. She loves to help in the kitchen with the dishes, cooking, and whatever else we are doing.

Here is a picture of her cake. I drew other animals around the sides of it. There is a horse, a cow, a duck, a pig, and a sheep. You can kind of see the whole cake in some of the other pictures. Can't believe she is already 3 years old!

Well, Lilly is three years old now. We had a fun birthday for her. The theater was showing the new Winnie-the-Pooh movie, (As she affectionately says, "Boo-boo" instead of Pooh-bear) so we decided to go to that. Her birthday was actually on Sunday, but we celebrated on Saturday instead. This year, I decided to try decorating a cake since she is finally old enough to really notice and to tell us what she wants. So, we asked her what kind of cake she wanted and she said, "animals". Then we asked what kind of animals, and she wanted a cow and a horse, etc... So, we decided a farm theme would be good. Lilly loves dogs too. Every time she sees someone walking by with a dog she wants to go and pet it. It is funny because she has different noises that she makes for different dogs. Some say, "bark, bark", some say, "rouf, rouf", and some do more of a growling thing. We invited our neighbors, Rila and Jerry over to sing happy birthday with us. Lilly loves them. They have been really good neighbors and helped watch Lilly in the mornings while I was teaching Seminary.

The cake turned out not really being girl colors... oh well. I was going to try to make all of the animals different colors and stuff, but then decided it would take too long, so decided to just make an outline of them with frosting. Next time I'll pick something besides black frosting to do the outlines with, but all in all it didn't turn out bad. Lilly loved it and it also tasted great! so, that is what matters. She has been so excited to turn 3 years old and has been saying that she is 3 for about a week now. Esala and Mae were off visiting their family during the day, but we picked them up right in time for dinner and cake.

Disneyland

Had a lot of fun at Disneyland with Bi and Anna. Lilly especially loved the Astroblasters ride. She also wanted to ride on all of the boat rides. She kept saying "ride boat". So, we did. We rode on It's a Small World, Storybook land, the Pirates of the Carribean and any other water ride we could find. She isn't quite tall enough for Splash Mountain, but it was closed anyway. Daddy was really nice and let Lilly put her hand in the water on some of the boat rides. Of course on some of the rides they wouldn't let you. I think she enjoyed the water more than the rides though. One fun thing is that she was just barely tall enough to ride the Matterhorn. She loved it! We didn't want her to be scared, so we told her there would be a monster who would say, "roar", and then everyone would scream "Aaaah". So, even now when you ask her what happened on the ride, she will tell you "roar" and then scream. It is really quite humorous. She also really liked the bug spinning ride. We had tons of fun.

What Happened This Week?

December 2010
We don't keep this part up very well. Went to Japan for a visit a couple of weeks ago. Had an awesome time. John learned some new Japanese words. Lilly had tons of fun even though she tried to talk to a lot of people but they didn't talk back since they were Japanese.

June 26, 2010
Well, John is finally done with his scuba certification. Hurray! We went on all of the dives together and it was tons of fun.

So, Friday was Lilly's first day to have a teenage babysitter. I must say I was a bit nervous and actually cried a little when we left her because she was outside waving goodbye to us, and kept waving and waving. It was so cute. The next new thing is that her hair is finally long enough for one ponytail in the back instead of two pigtails. She is growing up so fast.

Lilly has started to learn to say prayers. She repeats the words now, but does some funny things. When we say, "Bless that we can be happy", she makes a little squealing noise. That's how she says happy. It is very cute. ;-)

Those Unforgettable Moments

October 2012
During scripture reading, Lilly repeats the words we say. Sometimes she gets it wrong, so we say it again until she gets it right to help her listen better. Some of her famous phrases are, "You are making my job hard!" or just the other day she says, "I'm speaking Japanese" to clarify why what she said was actually right.

December 2010
Lately Lilly does some really funny things. She has invented her own "sound" language. To say sleep she snorts like a pig or like someone snoring. So, when she asks if Daddy is sleeping she says, "Daddy, (snort)". It is really funny. Then she has her kind of growling sound for gekkos. If she wants to watch a movie she make this squealing noise. If she wants to eat she does this chomping noise. She makes us laugh hard every day. she is so funny. She can open the outside door now, so we have to keep it deadbolted so she can't get out when we aren't looking.

July 30
John was reading a book with Lilly. She pointed to the birds, and he said, "those are birds". Then she pointed to the bird house and he said, "that's a bird house". So, Lilly knocked on the bird house. (She knocks when she goes to any other house, why not a bird house?)

June 28
I was reading scriptures and Lilly started looking through my scriptures and she found a picture of John. So she holds the picture, waves at John's picture, and then blows him a kiss. The she put the picture away, pulled it out and did it again. It was really cute.

June 26
Lately if Lilliana falls down or gets hurt she runs over to have us pick her up. Then when you pick her up, she starts patting your back. It makes us laugh.

June 7
Sometimes during the day we find Lilly sitting up in her high chair. Every time she is hungry, she climbs in and then starts calling to us. Guess that is one way to communicate that you want to eat. ;-)

May 25
This happened a while back, but was really funny. John was holding Lilly and I heard him say, "yep, you found some hair in my nose, we don't pull that."
